The Aachener und Münchener Media Award 2003 will be granted to Rüdiger von Schönfels, correspondent of the "Wirtschaftswoche" magazine, to the book author Heide Kollatz and to the radio author Stefan Schmid. In addition, a promotion award will be granted to the journalist Nora Luttmer from Hamburg.
The decision on the awards was taken by an independent jury presided by Professor Dr. Dieter Farny (Cologne). The awards will be assigned at the opening event of the "Aachen Dialogue" on December 2, 2003 in Aachen.

In detail, the awards will be received for the following works:

Rüdiger von Schönfels is granted a first prize for four articles published in the "Wirtschaftswoche" magazine, which deals in a critical and objective way with the situation of life insurers, with private-sector health insurance in the context of medical progress and rising life expectancy, with motor insurance and here in particular with the relationship between policyholders, car manufacturers, car dealers and garages. One of the four articles involved the cooperation of the journalist Christoph Schürmann, who also works for the economic magazine. He will receive a proportionate share of the amount allocated to the award.

Heide Kollatz obtains a second prize for her book "Private Altersvorsorge" (private old-age provision). The jury is of the opinion that the book convinces thanks to the quality of the material statements and to its excellent didactics.

Stefan Schmid receives the third prize for his radio contribution "The first life insurance". This informative feature on the history of life insurance was broadcast by the radio stations WDR, NDR and the Saarland ratio station.

Nora Luttmer is granted a promotion award for her journalistic works dealing, among others, with "phantom risks" and their claims volume and with risk management in big companies.
